About the Latina Initiative
In January of 2005, Girls Inc. implemented a national initiative to address the needs of Latinas aged 6 to 18, with the goal of increasing the number of Latina girls served by Girls Inc. affiliates and increasing the sensitivity to Latinas in all Girls Inc. efforts. With funding from the Goizueta Foundation, Girls Inc. has been able to focus on providing Girls Inc. affiliates with the tools, training, technical assistance and support needed to effectively serve Hispanic girls in their communities.Key areas are: connecting with parents/guardians and families, diversifying affiliate boards of directors, developing external partnerships with key organizations, and delivering Girls Inc. programming to Latina girls.
Girls Inc. of Delaware has received generous support from The Arsht Cannon Fund and other organizations to support our programs for Latina Girls in Kent and Sussex Counties.
