Part Time - After School / Outreach Program Instructors

Employment Type: Part-time; 18-35 hours per week

Girls Inc. of Delaware, a statewide nonprofit organization, is seeking a part-time (18-35 hours per week) program instructor for our center-based and outreach programs for girls ages 6-18.

The Instructor is responsible for the planning, implementation, supervision and evaluation of daily program activities for girls in Girls Inc. programs (including center- based and outreach programs).

Provides a quality experience for girls that focuses on Girls Inc.'s mission to "inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold" while, "providing. . .girls with life changing experiences and solution to the unique challenges girls face."

Position Responsibilities:

  • Implement curriculum within the established guidelines and instruct sessions in a student-centered environment.

  • Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans that involve hands-on/minds-on learning.

  • Supervise children, classroom, and all activities.

  • Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents, teachers and staff.

  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that is conducive to getting along with participants, staff, parents and the public.

  • Maintain program site and equipment. Ensures all areas are left clean and ready for the next use.

  • Maintain required program records.

  • Work closely with the Program Director in program planning and evaluation.

  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with no direct supervision. Must be detail oriented for managing material orders, program setup, breaks, and paperwork.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Seek professional growth through training and complete annual training requirements as required for licensing and/or as recommend by immediate supervisor.

  • Serve as a driver of Girls Inc. vehicles for transport -- for field trips etc.

  • Participates in periodic assessment of own performance -- developing goals and objectives.

  • Support and attend special events as assigned.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma required. An Associates Degree in Education or related field preferred.

  • Must have strong communication skills, an interest in gender equity programs, and at least one year of experience working with school-age children.

  • Applicant must be able to qualify for the position of School-Age Instructor as designated by the Office of Child Care Licensing.

  • Technologically proficient.

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 45 lbs.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and motor vehicle for travel to outreach sites.

  • Submit to a fingerprinting background check performed by the State of Delaware.
